When talking about social network websites you should automatically think of facebook, my space, bebo, twitter etc. These are the main players in the social networking game. Millions of you log onto the Internet to visit these websites every day and this is why they have become such big brands.

Facts and Figures

Facebook - the largest social networking website with over 100million members. Started in Harvard University in 1999 to provide a network for th students to communicate with each other.
Twitter - has attracted all the celebrities and offers a great platform for then to communicate (tweet) with their many fans (followers). Google bought twitter for £125m in 2008.
MySpace - a previous rival with facebook and bebo. This social networking website attracted the celebrities and is now a perfect base for them, along with music bands etc, to share their latest news, pictures and updates with fans.
Bebo - targeted the younger generation. A fun place to communicate with friends, upload pictures, share music videos and more.
